SCRIPTURE THOUGHTS

Scripture Thoughts from March 15, 2022 | Originally released by Truth-Justice-Mercy on February 10, 2023 | Updated for clarity on 1/23/25

Good afternoon my friends,

My heart has been quite heavy this week for the people of Turkey, and also Syria, who have been overcome by massive earthquakes. As some of you know, I’ve had a burden for Turkey for several years now, as the Lord has had me praying for it to become a Christian nation.

I know He has said that, in addition to pouring out His glory this year, He is also bringing the angel of death. But it is so very hard to watch and make sense of so much devastation, death, and suffering of innocent people. Oh, Father God, cover them!

But last night, the Lord showed me the beginnings of the other part. A former pastor of mine alerted me to the spontaneous revival that has broken out at Asbury University this week and has since spread to the seminary and to other universities! His glory! He is beginning to pour out His glory, just as He said, and it is going to spread like wildfire!

Oh Father, we pray for a revelation of Jesus Christ throughout our land and throughout our world! We pray for those who remain in Turkey and Syria to catch a glimpse of Your glory and that they will FLOCK to YOU as the only true refuge, provider, and healer! We pray for Your Name to be magnified all throughout this earth and to see victory over the darkness!

The following is something I’ve been holding onto since last March. But with a recent word the Lord has given me, He said it’s now time to pull this one out. So, today’s release will be a precursor to the next one, which will come out over the weekend.

May you grow in the grace of our Lord, and may you look to Him… and Him alone as your source.

SCRIPTURE THOUGHTS

Tuesday March 15, 2022 – Scripture – 11:00 am

I frequently listen to my daily Bible reading in French as a way to try to improve my skills (which aren’t so great, by the way… but that’s why we keep trying). While many passages in English have become so familiar to me that I, admittedly, just run past them without contemplating what they’ve said, sometimes a verse spoken in French will really jump off the page at me in a new way. Such was the case this morning as I heard this spoken:

FRENCH:

« Mais s’il boit l’eau que Je lui donnerai, il n’aura plus jamais soif.

Au contraire, l’eau que Je lui donnerai deviendra en lui une source,

et cette source donne la vie avec Dieu pour toujours. »

-Jean 4 :14, PDV

ENGLISH:

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;

but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water

springing up in to everlasting life.”

-John 4:14, KJV

So, what got my attention here was that the French word for well, or spring, is SOURCE. And, while the old KJV verse I remember from my childhood is really much more poetic and descriptive than the simple modern French version I’m in this year, it’s easy for me to skip over and miss the whole point. But what I heard in that middle line of the French PDV basically translates as this:

“…On the contrary, the water which I will give him will become in him a SOURCE…”

And when I heard this, it really clicked. As a total side note, I also knew that it was related to an earlier message He spoke to me today about how we’re being poisoned[i] (I’ll let you look that one up separately and make your own inferences).

But—getting back to the point—HE is our SOURCE...

our life-blood, our breath, our strength,

our wisdom, our cleansing, our healing,

our protection, our defense, our redemption,

our supply, our sustenance, our refreshing, our righteousness...

And so very much more!!! In the SOURCE that is the water of JESUS CHRIST we have EVERYTHING we need… in fact, way more than enough!

So I ask, what well are you drawing from today? What (or shall I say, Whom) is your source? Jesus is Life. Jesus is the living WORD. And, Jesus has sent the Allosanother exactly like Him—to indwell us, to be our helper, and to be our source. So, today and every day, let’s allow the water of the Word to wash over us, to cleanse us, to fill us up, to refresh us, and to empower us for all that He has for us to do. He is, and must be, our source.

“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another (allos) Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”

-John 14:16-17, ESV
