Hello Friends!

Today’s word will be a follow up to Friday’s look at John 4:14, wherein Jesus states that the water He gives will be a well of water springing up, or a source. In preparing to send it out over the weekend, the Lord began speaking to me more on the final verse (hence, the delay). Rather than making this one any longer, though, expect to hear more on the subject in the future. In similar fashion to other messages lately, this one may be meddling just a little. I’m not one for wanting to make people bristle, but that sure seems to be where He wants me to go lately!

So, as a spoiler, please know that I’m not trying to take away anybody’s Starbucks, as that is never my job. But… maybe you should also know that the Lord has already taken mine away (ouch). Do I think lattes are a sin? Absolutely not. Do I love the smell of a good coffee shop? You bet! But has the Lord shown me things about a particular brand that He wants me to have absolutely no alignment with? Well… in my case, yes. I am responsible for what He reveals to me. But I also take the verses about Christian liberty very seriously, so there is no judgment here.

But perhaps the bigger issue here is this:

From which posture are we making our decisions—big or little—in our lives, in our families, in our churches, in our jobs…?

Is it from being on our faces before the King? Or, are we relying on our own wit and strength, sprinkled with a little “genie” prayer to see us through? I don’t know about you, but the more I grow in Him, the more desperate I am for HIM to lead the way!

Whatever it is that He calls you to do or to not do, we must each have it determined in our hearts at all times that that HE IS WORTH IT, and HE IS WORTHY, and He is to be glorified!

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

“Everything you do should stem from Me. I need to be the very reason—the source—for what you do, My children, and not just something added in or sprinkled onto what you were already doing. If it doesn’t stem from Me, then cut it off. Some of you see Me only as a flavor enhancer, when, in fact, I am LIFE.

Don't use Me to make that which stems from a rotten source more palatable for you to consume, My people.

I have come to give life and life abundantly. My resurrection power can bring life where there is death – true transformation. But you must first be willing to surrender that which is unholy to Me. Be set apart. Be ye holy, for I am holy.

I will be your light in the darkness that is coming—though it will be brief—before My glory appears. You will be a light for others in the darkness, if you are plugged into the source!”

As He spoke, I saw the following two visions:

I was observing a bustling Starbucks café. People were chatting, working, and some were even having Bible studies while sipping on their coffees and lattes.

I was then shown another scene of women lifting their Starbucks cups up to their lips as they went about their days – driving, work, kids, PTA meetings, etc. They prayed a quick prayer of blessing over their schedules and all of the “stuff” they were doing as they drove from thing to thing.

“Coffee and Jesus! That’s all I need!”

The Lord made a point to show the “Starbucks” logo and highlight that it did not please Him.

I was then moved to a church board meeting which was just finishing up and then adding in a quick prayer at the end. Hovering over the conference table was a bigger-than-life hand rubbing its fingers together… as if it had been expected to sprinkle a little blessing over the plans that had just been made. All of the people sat back in their chairs looking quite pleased with themselves. But the truth of the matter was, NOTHING was actually coming out from those fingers!!!

There was no blessing.

The Lord was showing me a picture of how we view Him, and He even referenced the word “genie!”

Again, He reiterated:

“I want to be the SOURCE. What you do should stem from your time in prayer, on your face before Me, and not the other way around. Don’t ask Me to sprinkle My blessing over your brilliant and lofty plans that you did not seek Me over, when I am, in fact, the Brilliance-Maker, the Ultimate Innovator, and Creativity-Giver!

And, DO watch what you consume, My children: what you watch, what you listen to, and yes, even what you eat and drink. You do not know, and you do not understand what they have contaminated these things with. It is true that I have made all things permissible, and you are not bound by the Law. Nevertheless, listen for My still small voice, and use wisdom when you make your choices. I will protect you.”

To close, the Lord impressed upon me a passage written in my notebook from April 21st of last year:

Deuteronomy 32:31-33, CSB

“31But their ‘rock’ is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede.

32For their vine is from the vine of Sodom and from the fields of Gomorrah.

Their grapes are poisonous; their clusters are bitter.

33Their wine is serpents’ venom, the deadly poison of cobras.”
